Boards & Committees of Peace UCC

The Board of Deacons cooperate with the Pastor in administering to the spiritual interests of the church and community. They assist with communion and worship. They are responsible for the enlistment of new members and for keeping the membership records accurate by annually reviewing the church roll.

The Board of Trustees have the care and custody of the property of the church. They develop the budget and, with the Stewardship Committee, have charge of the financial affairs, under the direction of the church. They maintain insurance policies, endowment funds and employee agreements.

The Christian Education Committee surveys the educational needs of all age groups in the church, determines appropriate curriculum and monitors all educational aspects of the church. The Superintendent, with the CE Committee, recruits teachers and involves the Church School in the life of the church.

The Special Events Committee has general charge of all special events and celebrations to promote fellowship among the church members. Organists and choir directors are ex-officio members of this committee.

The Time, Talent, and Treasure Committee seeks to promote a Christian theology of giving. They coordinate a yearly program to raise the money for the annual budget and, with the Trustees, solicit and accept financial gifts and endowments. They also use the Time and Talent Sheets to help fill the ballot positions with nominees in preparation for voting at the Annual Meeting.

The Pastor-Parish Relations Committee helps to support and maintain an open and sensitive relationship between the Pastor and the congregation, to promote a sharing of ideas, hopes, dreams and concerns.

The Mission Committee selects and implements mission projects to unite the congregation in a common goal and to offer members many ways to contribute their time, talent and treasure to benefit those both within and outside the congregation. They oversee benevolence contributions and inform the congregation of mission projects of the United Church of Christ worldwide.

The Reach-Out Committee is responsible for coordinating activities to reach out to current church members and to potential members in the community to encourage them to become active in the life of the church. Marketing and advertising are goals of this committee.
